A delegation led by the Ambassador of Romania to Azerbaijan, Vasile Soare, and the Rector of “Petre Andrei” University of Iași, Sorin Bocancea, visited Baku State University (BSU).
BSU Rector Elchin Babayev provided an overview of the university’s history, academic and scientific activities, international cooperation, and double degree programs. He also highlighted the successful integration and partnerships with Romanian universities, emphasizing the importance of organizing joint forums, scientific conferences, and collaborative research initiatives between BSU and “Petre Andrei” University.
Ambassador Vasile Soare noted that the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Romania continue to develop successfully, underlining the important role of academic and scientific institutions in strengthening these ties.
Rector Sorin Bocancea stated that “Petre Andrei” University specializes in social sciences and humanities and actively cooperates with European universities, particularly those in the Black Sea region. He also presented the university’s scientific publications and described the visit as the beginning of closer academic integration between the two institutions.
During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation between BSU and “Petre Andrei” University, including joint conferences, collaborative research projects, and co-authored academic publications.
Following the discussions, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation was signed between the two universities.
The guests also familiarized themselves with BSU’s infrastructure. At the end of the visit, the delegation presented the university’s Scientific Library with an issue of the international academic journal “POLIS” published by “Petre Andrei” University, dedicated to Azerbaijan.
